Fieldtrip Basics

CMEC makes a great destination for groups!

The basics are as follows:

• We offer special field trip/group rates to established                                                            child-service organizations with a minimum of ten children attending.

• Field trips/group visits are two hours in length.

• Cost for a field trip/group visit is $3.50 per child. 

• A non-refundable deposit of $35 is required and will be deducted from your final payment.

• CMEC requires that there be one adult for every five children.  These adults are admitted at no cost.  Extra adults are welcome and can be covered at the group rate of $3.50 each.

• Field trips/group visits can be scheduled Tuesdays thru Fridays (Mondays only by special permission) and can begin as early as 9:00 am for qualifying groups.

• The museum opens to the public at 10:00 am so there will be others in the museum when your group is here.

• Field trips/group visits must be scheduled at least one week in advance with a CMEC staff member to receive the group rate.

• CMEC memberships cannot be used for field trip/group visit admission. 

Other exciting things!

• There are many other field-trip opportunities for children downtown and within walking distance of the Children’s Museum.  Call the Museum to have a list of possibilities sent to you.

• CMEC is working on partnering with other downtown establishments to give groups the option of having a full-days worth of learning and fun.  Our first partnership is with the L.E. Philips Library which is 3 blocks away.  The group would spend two hours with us, break for lunch (lunch options include area parks and restaurants or using Philips Library facilities if available), and then spend the rest of the day at the library in one of their programs.  Since everything is within walking distance, there would only be the need for one bus drop-off and pick-up.  Full details on group visits to the library can be received by calling their Youth Services desk at (715) 839-5007.

• Field trips also have the option of visiting our Gift Shop.  If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity for your group, please indicate at time of booking.
